MediCinema gives patients and their families a break from the ward and all the difficulties of being in hospital. Our cinemas are specifically designed to comfortably accommodate wheelchairs and hospital beds, and patients can continue to use machines and drips that they may need. We provide professional clinical staff and volunteers who make the experience very sociable and safe.
Our MediCinema’s improve the difficult reality of life in hospital for 25,000 patients and their families throughout the UK every year, increasing the resilience they need to get through an incredibly difficult time.
We opened our first hospital cinema in 1999. To date we have five MediCinemas and plan to double the number of sites and triple the annual number of people we reach by 2025.
MediCinema is an independently-funded charity, and not part of the NHS. 30% of our funding comes from the general public – from people like you. Each donation makes a huge difference to our patients and families.
